Jenkins and Stiles Construction
Selected to Complete New Oak Ridge Senior Center Project
October 16, 2018
The City of Oak Ridge has had a recreation program dedicated to serving the needs of citizens 50 and older since 1977 and is currently in the process of planning a state-of-the-art, senior-friendly facility for this purpose. The facility will be located near the current Civic Center building in A.K. Bissell Park. Plans for the new Oak Ridge Senior Center project have being drawn up by Studio 4 Design. Studio 4 Design is a local company based out of Knoxville with experience in designing senior recreation centers. Currently Jenkins and Stiles Construction has been selected to complete the project by October 2, 2019. There will be 3 meeting rooms, a dividable multipurpose room, an exercise room, kitchen, and recreation room. These rooms will house the operation of the Oak Ridge Senior Center programs. Some of these programs include card games, educational programs, arts and crafts, billiards, guitar and language lessons to help keep memory and concentration sharp. There are also exercise classes and a pickleball program to help keep participants physical fit as well.
