Nama Sushi Bar opened its new location at 260 N. Peters Road at Cedar Bluff Road on Tuesday, replacing Puleo’s Grille, which previously operated there.

This is the third Nama location in Knoxville. The original Nama opened at 506 S. Gay St. in 2004, and the Bearden location is at 5130 Kingston Pike at Homberg Place. The restaurant has also expanded into Brentwood and Nashville.

“Today is the first official day of opening and the lunch crowd has been outstanding,” R. Gale Huneycutt Jr., president and CEO of Nama LLC, said via an email Tuesday. “The guests are very excited that we are finally open and so far we have had stellar feedback on the food, service and atmosphere.”

In a news release, he described the restaurants as “a sushi bar concept with an Asian fusion flair that offers not only traditional sushi for the experienced sushi eater but also many selections for vegetarians, novice sushi eaters and several Asian inspired choices for the non-sushi customer referred to as the Hot Nama menu section.”

In addition to the menu, the restaurant provides a full-service bar with an  extensive selection of wine and sake as well as local craft beers and cocktails.

In 2017 Nama won Best of the Best in the sushi category for Knoxville’s CityView Magazine and Best Sushi in Brentwood Lifestyle’s Best of Awards.

The business is open 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday.
